1. How is mileage charged for the Tesla?
Mileage is charged at $0.28 per kilometer (inclusive of GST) under the Standard Plus EV category.
Booking & Eligibility
2. Who is eligible to book a Tesla Model Y?
To book a Tesla vehicle, you must meet the following requirements:
Age: Minimum 25 years old.
Driving Experience: At least 2 years of valid driving experience.
Account Type: Only Full Accounts are permitted to book Tesla vehicles (trial accounts are not eligible).
3. What is the minimum duration for booking a Tesla Model Y?
Tesla Model Y bookings require a minimum duration of 4 hours under the Standard Plus EV (Tesla) category.
Unlocking, Driving & Returning
4. How do I unlock and lock the Tesla Model Y?
There is no physical car key provided. Locking and unlocking must be performed using the Tribecar web portal or mobile app during your active booking.
5. How do I start and drive the vehicle?
Unlock the vehicle via the Tribecar app and step inside (the touchscreen will turn on automatically).
Press down firmly on the brake pedal.
Select your desired gear using the drive stalk on the right side of the steering wheel (move down for Drive, up for Reverse, or press the end button for Park).
6. How do I end my trip and turn off the vehicle?
Shift the vehicle into Park, step out, and use the Tribecar app to lock the vehicle or click End Trip. The touchscreen and vehicle power will turn off automatically once locked.
Battery Policy & Charging
7. What is the required battery level upon returning the vehicle?
You must return the vehicle with at least 51% State of Charge (SoC). Avoid letting the battery drop below 20% (indicated when the battery icon turns yellow).
8. Do I need to document the battery level at the end of my trip?
Yes. You are required to take a clear photo of the State of Charge (SoC) level displayed on the touchscreen as part of your end-trip verification process.
9. Which charging stations am I allowed to use?
Only use official Tesla Superchargers, as the charging fees are billed directly to Tribecar.
10. How do I open the charging port?
Ensure the car is in Park, then open the port using one of three methods:
Tap Controls > Charging > Open Charge Port on the Tesla touchscreen.
Tap the Lightning Bolt icon on your active booking page in the Tribecar app.
Press and release the button on the Tesla Supercharger handle.
11. What do the charging light status colors mean?
Blinking Green: Charging in progress.
Solid Green: Charging complete.
Solid / Blinking Amber: Cable not fully inserted or charging at reduced current.
Red: Fault detected; check the touchscreen display for instructions.
Fees & Penalties
12. What is the Tesla Idling Fee?
To ensure Superchargers remain accessible, you must unplug and move the vehicle as soon as charging reaches 80% or is complete. An Idling Fee of $1.20 per minute will be charged if the vehicle remains plugged into a Supercharger after charging finishes. This fee will be automatically deducted from your Tribecar account.
