1. What is Tribecar Johor Bahru (JB) pickup car?
Tribecar Johor Bahru pickup allows you to book a car through the Tribecar app and collect the car directly in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The booking process is the same as a normal Tribecar booking in Singapore. The only difference is that the car will be parked at a designated location in Johor Bahru.
2. Who can book Johor Bahru (JB) pickup cars?
Everyone can book JB pickup cars as long as they meet the following requirements:

Hold one of the following:
Singapore NRIC (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
Valid Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore, or Dependant’s Pass (DP) issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore, with at least 6 months’ validity
Hold a valid Singapore driving licence
Have an active Tribecar Full Account (trial accounts are not eligible)
Driving Experience Requirement
Must have at least 2 years of driving experience
Must be at least 22 years old
Drivers below 23 years old will be classified as New Drivers and will be subject to a New Driver surcharge of 20% of the total rental (usual 30%).
We will continue to expand eligibility to more users in the future.
3. How do I book a JB pickup car?
Open the Tribecar app
Select “Economy Sedan (JB Pickup)” in the category filter.
Choose your booking date and time
Confirm the booking and proceed to the JB pickup location shown in the app
4. Where do I collect the car?
The car will be parked at a designated Johor Bahru pickup location.
The exact parking location and collection instructions will be displayed in the Tribecar app once your booking is confirmed.
5. What are the rental rates for JB pickup cars?
Category: Economy Sedan (JB Pickup)
Peak and Off-Peak timing:
Off-Peak: Monday (12:00 AM) to Friday (5:00 PM)
Peak: Friday (5:01 PM) to Sunday (11:59 PM)
Public Holiday policy:
The eve of a Singapore Public Holiday follows Friday pricing.
Off-Peak rates apply until 5:00 PM, and Peak rates apply from 5:01 PM onwards.
On Singapore Public Holidays, Peak rates apply for the entire day.
Note: A $200 authorisation hold applies for Malaysia bookings. For more information, please refer to “What is the authorisation hold for Malaysia usage?”

6. Is TribeShield and CDW available for JB pickup cars?
Yes. TribeShield and CDW are available.

7. What are the Own Damage and 3rd Party excess for JB pickup cars?
The applicable excess for Own Damage and Third Party claims will depend on whether you are a New Driver or Experienced Driver, and whether you have opted for CDW or TribeShield.

8. Can I drive the JB pickup car into Singapore?
No.
Cars collected in Johor Bahru are not allowed to be driven into Singapore.
These cars are intended for use within West Malaysia only.
9. Where can I drive the JB pickup car?
Cars collected from Johor Bahru pickup locations may be driven within West Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia) only.
Driving outside of Peninsular Malaysia is not permitted.
10. Do I need to return the car to the same location?
Yes.
The car must be returned to the same parking lot where it was collected at the end of your booking.
Please ensure the car is parked properly in the designated parking space before ending the trip.
11. Are these cars legally registered in Malaysia?
Yes.
All cars available for pickup in Johor Bahru are fully registered and licensed as Hire and Drive rental cars under Malaysian regulations, including licensing under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and relevant transport authorities.
12. Do I need to follow Malaysian road regulations?
Yes.
When driving in Malaysia, hirers must comply with Malaysia’s road traffic laws and land transport regulations, including speed limits, traffic rules, and parking regulations.
Any fines or penalties issued by Malaysian authorities shall be borne by the hirer.
If any fines are identified after the trip and are found to correspond with the hirer’s booking period, Tribecar will charge or recover the amount from the hirer accordingly.
13. Are New Drivers allowed to book JB pickup cars?
Yes.
Drivers classified as New Drivers may still book JB pickup cars provided they are at least 22 years old and have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
New Driver surcharge of 20% of the total rental (usual 30%) will apply to the booking.
According to Tribecar policy, a driver will be classified as a New Driver if they have less than 2 years of local driving experience and/or are younger than 23 years old.

14. Can I post photos or videos of the JB pickup car online?
For privacy and security reasons, hirers must not post or share photos, videos, or screenshots that show the car plate or any identifiable car information of cars picked up in Johor Bahru.
This includes sharing on social media, websites, forums, or any public platform.
If this rule is not followed, an administrative fee of S$100 may be charged to the hirer.
15. What should I do if an accident happens in Malaysia?
In the event of an accident:
Ensure everyone is safe
Contact emergency contacts inside the car, scan the QR code to connect via WhatsApp.
Follow the instructions provided by the support team
If required, make a police report according to Malaysian regulations
Please do not leave the scene of an accident without notifying the relevant authorities if required.
16. What is the fuel requirement when returning the car?
You are required to return the car with a full tank of petrol at the end of your booking. A fee of S$13.50 will be imposed if this requirement is not met.
