Mid-Trip Charges & Negative Wallet Recovery


Mid-trip mileage charges are applied for every 100 kilometres driven during an active booking. These charges are deducted from the user’s Tribecar wallet in real time. Deductions will proceed regardless of wallet balance and may result in a negative wallet balance.

If a user’s wallet becomes negative due to mileage charges while the trip is still ongoing, the system will automatically attempt to recover the outstanding amount by charging the user’s saved credit card via Stripe.

The system will only trigger this recovery if all the following conditions are met:

  • The wallet balance is negative due to mileage charges
  • The booking is still ongoing
  • The user is not terminated or pending termination
  • No successful Stripe charge has been made within the last 24 hours (to avoid multiple charges within the same day)

Mid-trip recovery applies only to negative balances caused by mileage charges. Any other outstanding charges (including but not limited to late return fees, penalties, or prior unpaid balances) are excluded from this process and will be recovered separately.

Other outstanding balances will be recovered through a daily recovery process at or around 11:00 PM, where Tribecar reserves the right to charge the user’s linked payment method.

By using Tribecar’s services, users authorise Tribecar to charge their registered payment method for:

  • Mid-trip mileage recovery charges; and
  • Any other outstanding balances in accordance with these Terms

Upon successful charge, an email receipt will be issued, following Tribecar’s standard billing format.

If a charge is unsuccessful, the transaction will be flagged and Tribecar reserves the right to take further action, including but not limited to account restrictions, suspension, or additional recovery measures.

Users are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Their Tribecar wallet maintains sufficient balance; and
  • Their registered payment method remains valid and chargeable at all times

All charges, including mid-trip mileage charges, wallet deductions, and recovery transactions, are inclusive of applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) unless otherwise stated. Receipts and billing statements will reflect amounts inclusive of GST.

Tribecar reserves the right to amend or update these terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
